Fire breaks out in Taunggyi

AN electric fire broke out at a restaurant in Taunggyi Township, Shan State, on Friday, leaving no people injured, police reported yesterday.
According to investigators, the blaze was caused by overheated electrical wall switches installed in Wityee Restaurant, located on Ayethawa Street in Ward-3. The fire spread quickly to nearby objects.
With the assistance of locals, around 50 firefighters put out the flame with the use of 12 fire engines from fire services stations in Ayethaya, Taunggyi and Shwenyaung townships. They successfully put the blaze under control at around 2:30pm.
Ma Thae Wit Ye, the owner of the restaurant, has being charged by the police.
