Fire destroys shops at Golden Gate Market in Sa Kaew
Updated: 2016-06-20-14:01
A fire at the Rong Kluea Border Market’s Building B (Golden Gate Market) in Sa Kaew’s Aranyaprathet district early Monday morning destroyed four shops.
It was estimated the fire, initially deemed to have been stated by a short circuit, caused Bt5 million in damages, said Klong Leuk superintendent Pol Colonel Seksan Wattanapong.
Following the fire report at 1am, police found the chambers of two buildings on fire. The chambers housed four shops selling appliances and clothing. It took about 90 minutes extinguish the fire.
It was reported that previously a fire had damaged these shops due to a short circuit as the building is located next to a power pole with a transformer.
As soon as the border checkpoint opened at 6am Monday, hundreds of Cambodian vendors rushed across the border to check on their rented shops at the market for fear ill-intentioned people might use the chaotic situation to loot shops.
