Plane’s tyre catches fire in Amritsar

There was an alert at Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ram Das International Airport after smoke was seen billowing from the tyre of an aircraft. Airport director Venktashwar Rao said the incident happened when a Delhi-bound aircraft was being refuelled. One of the staff members sustained injuries after he tried to put off the fire with an extinguisher, he said.
He said the flight took off on time. The staff member was not injured seriously and his condition is stated to be stable. The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained by the authorities.
