Angry over complaint against son, man sets girl on fire

BHOPAL: A teenaged girl was battling for her life with 80% burns after a 50-year-old man set her on fire for registering a molestation complaint against his son at Gadhi in Madhya Pradesh’s Raisen district on Saturday.
The 16-year-old was sent to a juvenile home after the girl had filed the complaint against him two days earlier.
Raisen SP Shashikant Shukla said, “The boy, Ashok, who harassed the girl, was arrested on the day she filed the complaint.”
Police said Ashok’s father, Kanchedi, barged into the girl’s house, doused her with kerosene and set her on fire.
The girl’s father rushed to her rescue, but by that time she had sustained 80% burns.
The teenager was initially taken to a local primary health centre before she was referred to Bhopal.
