Major fire breaks out at chemical unit

A major fire broke out at a chemical unit in Lamdapura near Savli in Vadodara district on Thursday morning. No one was injured in the incident as the unit was shut down for maintenance.
The accident took place when some welding was being conducted at the unit as a part of maintenance. A spark reportedly fell on chemical stored at the factory and it caught fire. The unit used to manufacture chlorinated paraffin wax.
Fire tenders from Vadodara and Savli rushed to the unit and doused the blaze. Sources said except for workers involved in maintenance, the factory didn’t have many workers due to Eid holiday.
