AJMER: A paralytic woman, who could not escape when a fire broke out in her house, was burnt to death in front of several people on Friday night. The incident occurred at HaribhauNagar area in the city.
According to the police, Sudha (52), wife of one Ramesh Goyal, a cloth shop owner in Ghaseti Bazaar, was alone in her house when a fire broke out due to short circuit. Sudha had paralysis about three years ago and was confined to bed. Her husband and one of the sons were at the shop, while two other sons stay in Mumbai.
When the fire broke, Sudha tried to move out from bed but was unable to come out. She shouted aloud for help and neighbours gathered on the spot. However, due to the huge fire, no one dared to break inside to save her. They called police and fire brigade who broke open the door but found Sudha dead. “We are investigating the matter,” said a police officer.
