19 hurt as bus catches fire after accident near Pipli

A luxury bus caught fire after a collision on Vataman-Bhavnagar road early on Friday. In all, 19 passengers sustained injuries in the incident. According to Dholera police, no casualties were reported till Friday night.
A bus of Marutinandan Travels had started off from Surat on Thursday night for Bhavnagar. When it was passing from near Pipli at 6am, the bus collided with a truck going ahead. Both the vehicles caught fire after the accident.
“Many of the passengers were sleeping and were caught unawares when the commotion started. However, before the fire could spread, most of them were rescued. Investigation is on to ascertain whether it was the bus driver’s negligence that had led to the incident,” said a Dholera police official.
EMRI 108 officials said that six ambulances from Dholka, Dholera, Fedra and Vataman shifted the 19 injured to a private hospital in Dhandhuka.
In another incident, city traffic police reported a death on SG Road on Thursday. Investigators said that body of a man was found near Thaltej crossing on Thursday with injury marks. Police have not found any identity documents from the deceased.
