Fire hits Tondo church

A fire struck the convent of a parish church in Tondo, Manila at dawn yesterday.
No one was reported injured. But a Vietnamese priest, Dominic Ngo Anh Quoc, lost some P50,000, a laptop and a mobile phone during the fire.
Arson probers said the fire broke out at around 3:28 a.m. on the second floor of St. Joseph Parish along Juan Luna street in Gagalangin.
The fire reached the third alarm before it was put out at around 4 a.m., according to the Manila Fire Bureau.
Damage to property was placed at P100,000.
The priest, who is in the country to study, said he would not press for an investigation.
A drunk man was arrested after he made a scene and tried to intervene with the responding firemen and police officers.
Police said Jasper Montalban would be charged with direct assault.
