AC at Jivraj Hospital catches fire

An air-conditioning unit at Jivraj Mehta Hospital in Vejalpur reported fire on Monday afternoon. A team of Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) doused the flames after an hour-long operation. Officials said that minimal damage has been caused by the fire to the building.
According to AFES officials, the hospital authorities informed the control room at 2pm on Monday about fire in the air-conditioning unit at one of the special care rooms. “The room was not occupied when the incident took place. The fire was spotted when the outer unit had started burning and emitting smoke and flames,” said an AFES official.
Officials said that the unit was detached from the wall and the flames were doused.
In another incident, a truck carrying solid waste parked near Hatkeshwar Circle had reported fire at 12.48pm. The locals claimed that it was handiwork of some miscreants that had deliberately started fire. Local police have started investigating the claim.
