Fire in Assam Secretariat

A major fire broke out at the high security Assam Secretariat campus in Dispur on Saturday midnight.
The fire, suspected to have sparked from an electric short circuit, gutted a portion of an office of Public Works Department (PWD) at the B block of the secretariat. Two fire tender vehicles rushed to the spot and doused the fire within an hour. State’s home department commissioner and secretary LS Changsan told the media, “Because of a recent fire safety drill at the secretariat, employees here managed to handle it smartly.”
