Short circuit sparks fire near Dalibagh
Updated: 2016-08-18-01:21
Panic gripped residents of Bahukhandi and nearby localities, on Wednesday, as a short circuit led to a fire at a pumping station near Dalibagh.
At 1:58pm, a short circuit in a high tension wire near the station produced sparks which fell on a garbage dump behind Parag dairy near the 1090 Crossing. The fire raged on as officers of fire department tried to douse the flames. “I was standing near the Parag booth and around 2pm, huge flames leaped from the garbage dump and people who were standing nearby informed the fire department.” said Ranjeet Agarwal, who resides near Bahukhandi.
Chief fire officer Abhay Bhan Pandey said the incident occurred due to a short circuit and the fire was controlled within a half an hour.
“This is the second such incident. Earlier on April 30, a fire had gutted hutments located nearby and this time it was a short circuit that burned down the area”, said Priyanshu Sinha another resident.
“I am surprised by Lucknow Municipal Corporation’s negligence on such issues” said Rajai Bhomick, who lives near IRS colony in Dalibagh.
