Mentally-ill man dies in fire

IPOH: A mentally-ill man died when a fire razed down a house in Mambang Diawan on Saturday morning.
Lee Chan Hoong, 39, was warned by his uncle Lee Swee Kam to come out of the house but he refused to do so.
Swee Kam, 57, suffered injuries to his head and hand after escaping the fire but he couldn’t do anything to save his nephew.
Kampar OCPD Supt Ng Kong Soon said The Fire and Rescue Department managed to extinguish the fire in the house and stop it from spreading.
“The arson damaged the whole house and once the operation ended, the deceased was found charred in the middle of the house. He suffered 80 degree burns,” said Supt Ng.
The body has been sent to Kampar Hospital for post mortem while Swee Kam is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Supt Ng the family of the deceased who is based in Johor have been informed about the incident. Police are still investigating the cause of the incident.
