Woman dies after jumping from burning three-storey shoplot

MIRI: A 20-year-old woman died after she reportedly jumped from the top floor of a three-storey shoplot to escape a fire here at 8pm Friday.
Huong Shi Fung, who was renting a room, died at the Miri Hospital from head injuries sustained in the fall.
Three others, who also jumped from the shoplot to escape the fire, are being hospitalised, said Sarawak Assistant Safety Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin.
“Bomba is still trying to douse the fires.
“It cannot be confirmed yet if anybody else is trapped in the building,” he said at the scene.
He said the cause of the fire at a block of six shoplots located in the heart of the city next to Mega Hotel would be determined later.
