Six cars torched in parking lot fire

KUALA LUMPUR: Two cars were destroyed while four more were partially damaged in a fire at the parking lot of flats in Taman Aman Putra here.
Sentul OCPD Asst Comm R. Munusamy said the fire, which is believed to have been deliberately set, occurred at 4.15am on Monday.
“The members of the Fire and Rescue Department were at the scene to put out the blaze when our personnel arrived.
“Our forensics team combed the area and did not find any bottle or container with flammable liquid at the scene.
“Some of the burnt debris has been collected for further analysis,” he said, adding that there were no CCTVs in the vicinity.
ACP Munusamy said the case is being investigated as arson.
“The owners of the cars involved will be called to the nearest police station to have their statements taken,” he said, urging anyone with information on the case to contact the police hotline at 03-2115 9999.
