60 houses, huts gutted in Sunsari fire

BHOJPUR: As many as 60 houses and huts were gutted in a fire incident in Sunsari district on Thursday.
In order to cook meal, the fire was lit in the house of Manru Miyan in Koshi Rural Municipality-5 in the afternoon.
However, the fire raged due to the blowing wind and engulfed the entire residence of 42 Muslim families at Maldaiya of Kumyai village.
Though a fire brigade from Inaruwa reached the incident site on time, the fire was only brought under control by security personnel and locals after the fire trucks arrived from Dharan, Itahari, Biratnagar and Rajbiraj.
The damage is estimated to be worth Rs 10 million, according to the Sunsari District Administration Office.
