Fire hits downtown Manila mall, traffic snarled
Updated: 2013-01-24-09:08
Early rush-hour traffic along a portion of C.M. Recto Avenue in downtown Manila was snarled after a fire of undetermined origin hit a mall there Thursday.
No one was initially reported injured in the fire that hit the 999 Mall on C.M. Recto Avenue, radio dzBB’s Carlo Mateo reported.
Smoke was seen coming out of the sixth and seventh floors of the mall building. The report said the seventh floor was the mall’s warehouse.
Traffic was snarled at the portion of C.M. Recto Avenue heading to Rizal Avenue.
Many of the stalls at the 999 Mall belonged to vendors who used to sell their wares at the Divisoria Mall, the report said. —KG, GMA News
