Rural school razed in fire in Sarawak

BETONG: Two blocks of a rural school located near the Batang Ai dam were razed in a fire (pix) Sunday.
The Fire and Rescue Department here said a block of classrooms and boarding school of SK Sekaruk were destroyed in the 7.30pm fire.
Firefighters had to travel 70kms from the nearest town of Betong to reach the school.
Voluntary firefighters helped to douse the fire but both blocks were destroyed as they were made of wood.
Nineteen students escaped the fire and are seeking shelter at nearby settlements.
