Fire breaks out at fast food restaurant in Miri

MIRI: A fire broke out at a fast food restaurant in the E-Mart Commercial Centre in Kuala Baram district 20km north of Miri city at 6pm Saturday.
Diners ran helter skelter out of the eatery when they saw thick smoke billowing from inside the outlet.
It is believed that the fire started from the restaurant’s kitchen.
Miri Fire Chief Supt Law Poh Kiong confirmed that no one was hurt or trapped due to the fire and all managed to evacuate to safety.
Firefighters from the Miri Lopeng fire station arrived at the scene after receiving an emergency call from the outlet’s staff member.
With the help of restaurant workers, the team managed to swiftly douse the fire and prevent it from spreading to other premises in the same building block.
Initial investigation showed that the fire started in the kitchen where the cooks were busy preparing orders for their customers.
