Updated: 2017-05-30 12:12
SINGAPORE: A car caught fire in a multi-storey carpark in Woodlands on Tuesday morning, prompting three cleaners to lend a hand in putting out the blaze.
In videos posted on social media by Hanis Husin, one of the cleaners was seen using a hose reel as smoke came out from the vehicle.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the fire, which involved the car’s engine compartment, at Block 505A, Woodlands Drive 14, at around 8am.
SCDF personnel took over and extinguished the fire with compressed air foam and water from the hose reel used by the cleaners.
A fire engine, two Red Rhinos, an ambulance and a support vehicle were dispatched.
No injuries were reported.
According to Hanis, the female car driver was trying to start the engine and ran out from the vehicle when she saw smoke coming out of the front bonnet.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
