A man was killed and five others seriously injured when a fire broke out at Grand Tower Inn Hotel on Charoen Nakhon road in Khlong San district in Bangkok early Sunday morning.
Atcharawdee Chaisuvirat, Khlong San district chief, said on Sunday morning that the dead man was an employee of the hotel. He died of smoke inhalation. The five injured people were taken to a nearby hospital.
Pol Lt Col Arwut Udomrat, an investigator at Samre police station, said the fire occurred on the hotel’s first floor at about 2am and rapidly spread to upper floors.
More than 10 fire trucks responded, and the firefighters managed to control the blaze after one hour. All eight floors of the hotel were damaged.
Police were investigating the cause of fire.
