Longhouse razed in Sarawak pre-dawn fire

MIRI: A 200m longhouse in the deep interior of Sri Aman division was razed to the ground in a pre-dawn fire on Thursday.
According to the State Fire and Rescue Department, the fire destroyed 19 housing units of Rumah Siliver Garik.
The fire was believed to have started at about midnight.
Firemen from Sri Aman town took three hours to douse the flames.
There were no casualties as residents managed to escape the blaze.
The cause of the fire is being probed and damages are being ascertained.
Some of the victims are being housed in tents, while some are staying with relatives or in the longhouse’s store room.
