CEBU, Philippines – Nearly P3 million worth of property went up in smoke in two separate fire incidents in the cities of Cebu and Mandaue yesterday morning.
Few hours later, a fire hit another factory in Barangay San Nicolas Proper, Cebu City.
A noodle factory owned by John Go along B. Aranas and Figueroa Streets caught fire at 7:55 a.m. It was declared under control few minutes later.
Fire Officer 3 Lowel Opolentisima estimated the damage at P375,000.
Opolentisima said that the two-storey building is used both as factory and residence of Go.
According to the fire investigator, Go is using the ground floor for business while the second floor as his residence.
Go who refused to be interviewed but Opolentisima said the fire may have been caused by electrical misuse.
One of the employees of Go told the fire investigator that they first experienced a power interruption.
Few minutes later, when the power was restored, they heard an unusual sound which was immediately followed by a thick smoke. The employees tried to put out the fire using an extinguisher but it went out of control instead. —/FPL (FREEMAN)
