60 families affected in downtown Manila fire

At least 60 families lost their homes Wednesday noon after a fire razed a building along Quezon Boulevard in Manila’s Sta. Cruz district.
The fire started at 12:35 p.m. at the fourth floor of the residential building, according to a report on dzBB radio.
The fire reached the fifth alarm and was placed under control as of 1:40 p.m. No one was initially reported injured in the fire, and , the report said.
Traffic at the southbound part of Quezon Boulevard was snarled during the fire.
Arson investigators are verifying information the fire started when a child inside the residential building played with matches.
The Bureau of Fire Protection estimated the fire damage to be worth around P300,000. — DVM, GMA News
