Fire disrupts mock election in Cagayan de Oro
Updated: 2013-02-02-14:36
A fire disrupted the Commission on Elections’ mock polls at a school in Cagayan de Oro City early Saturday, a radio report said.
The fire at the City Central School in Cagayan De Oro City broke out in the laboratory on the second floor of a building at the school, Radyo Mo Nationwide (RMN) reported.
However, the fire – which started at 7:25 a.m. – was quickly put out by authorities and responding firefighters, the report said.
Despite the fire, the mock elections pushed through, it added.
Earlier, Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. said the Comelec’s mock polls aimed to test the balloting process.
Brillantes also said the mock elections conducted nationwide will test the new streamlined voting procedure the Comelec will implement for May 13. — LBG, GMA News
