PETALING JAYA, March 8 (Bernama) — A family not only lost their house but also important documents and jewellery when fire razed their two-storey terrace house on Jalan 14/6 here, this morning.
House owner, S. Parasakthi, 43, said she was working when the incident happened around 10am and rushed home immediately after being informed by her nephew.
“When the fire broke out, my mother in-law, son and nephew were in the house and when I arrived later, I saw two rooms at the second floor were destroyed.
“Important documents such as birth certificates, passports and jewellery were destroyed in the blaze but luckily all of my family members managed to escape,” she told reporters when met at the scene, today.
Parasakthi who works as a clerk in an engineering company here said, her son was preparing to go to school when the fire broke out in the second floor of the house which is believed to have been caused by a short circuit.
