high and dry even as their houses were destroyed by a massive fire on Saturday night. In this chilling cold climate, some have taken shelter in a nearby school, while others under the open sky and few in the relatives’ houses.
The entire settlement of 14 houses at Chyangthapu bazaar was reduced to ashes when fire broke out on Saturday mid-night.
All the 52 families including house owners, tenants, hoteliers, shopkeepers living in those houses have been left stranded. They are shivering in the cold climate as all their belongings except clothes that they wore have been gutted in the blaze.
According to Hom Nath Pokharel, a victim, who has been taking shelter in the Bishnu Higher Secondary School, the fire sparked from neighbour’s house destroyed the house and property in a moment, and after that we have to suffer in such a miserable condition.
Seven members of Pokharel family have been taking shelter in a vacant block of the school are dependent on the relief amount, food materials and clothes provided by the Red Cross, Chamber of Commerce and Natural Disaster Rescue Committee.
After the incident the school has been shut for some days.
