Blaze in grocery leaves one dead‚ five injured

KATHMANDU: One person died and five others were injured when a fire broke out in the grocery run by Dinesh Maharjan on the 1st floor of Madan Shahi at Dallu, Swayambhu on Saturday.
Bimala Shahi (55) of Dallu fell unconscious from suffocation due to the smoke while dousing the fire and was eventually rushed to Bir Hospital. However she died in the course of treament.
The injured have been identifed as Sirish Shahi (17) , Rikesh Shrestha (18), Ambika Khadgi (27), Nischal Shrestha (22) and Dharma Shahi (37).
Among the injured Sirish Shahi has taken to Norvic Hospital and Dharma Shahi to B and B Hospital for further treatment.
The fire was brought under control with the help of fire engines, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, and locals.
According to a preliminary investigation, property worth Rs, 20,00,000 was reduced to ashes.
