13 houses gutted in Sunsari
DHARAN: As many as 50 persons were rendered homeless after a massive fire destroyed 13 houses in Charaiya Tole, Tanmuna in Sunsari, yesterday. Police said fire broke out from a local Thanduram Majhi’s house triggered by an electric short-circuit and it quickly engulfed other houses in the neighbourhood. According to police, property worth about Rs 7 million was destroyed in the fire. So far the fire victims have only received some tents, clothes and utensils in the name of relief. “Apart from the clothes we are wearing, we have lost everything. They have provided us with some tents, blankets and utensils, but we don’t have any food to eat,” bemoaned Pratapchand, a fire victim. The victims have demanded that the concerned authorities do the needful to provide them ration for their daily meals at the earliest. Meanwhile, Assistant Chief District Officer Chandeshwor Pokharel said his office will soon do something to provide food to the fire victims.
