Twelve houses in Dalit settlement gutted

BIRGUNJ: As many as 12 houses were destroyed in a fire at Hariharpur VDC in Parsa today.
Property worth millions of rupees was destroyed in the blaze that spread from the house of Raj Dev Paswan at 11:00 am, today.
The fire was put out in the evening with the joint effort of locals and a police team. Police are yet to assess the total cost of the damage.
The fire had spread because it was not put out properly after cooking. Houses belonging to Ram Dev Paswan, Naresh Paswan, Umesh Paswan, Jokhan Paswan, Bharoshi Paswan, Pahadi Paswan, Lali Paswan, Manju Paswan, Shambhu Paswan, Rama Kanta Paswan, Umakanta Paswan, Mangali Paswan, Ragindra Mahato, Jokhan Kankar, among others, were destroyed.
About 21 Dalit families have become helpless after fire engulfed their houses.
Fire engines from Birgunj sub-metropolitan, Area Police Office Langadhi, Vishwa Police Post, Janaki Tole, Armed Police Force Base Camp at Vishwa, and locals were deployed to take the blaze under control.
Nepal Red Cross Society, Parsa, distributed food, clothes and arranged temporary shelters for fire victims.
