Fires damage properties worth Rs 4.8 mln

BIRATNAGAR: Properties worth Rs 4.8 million have been damaged in two fire incidents in different places of Morang yesterday.

 

A fire that broke out due to a short circuit at a godown in Biratnagar-15 last night damaged the jute sacks worth Rs 2 million. The godown is owned by Ram Kumar Sah.

 

Similarly, the fire also destroyed properties worth Rs 2 million at a hardware shop adjacent to the godown. The shop belonged to Binod Sah.

 

Likewise, it burnt down the fruits, amounting to some Rs 300,000 from the fruit-shop of Ajaya Sah that was in the same building.

 

The fire was doused with the help of locals, police and fire brigade from Itahari and Inaruwa, informed the District Police Office, Morang.

 

Meanwhile, a house in Biratnagar-5 has been burnt down to ashes by the fire that broke out from the traditional stove of the house-owner Sadananda Gaderi.

 

The estimated damage is worth Rs 500,000.

 

The fire is also learnt to have partly damaged the two neighbouring houses.
