SINGAPORE – The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were kept busy with fires raging in Tampines and Lavender, on Wednesday evening (Oct 4) and Thursday morning (Oct 5) respectively.
It was alerted to a fire in a third-floor unit at Block 498J, Tampines Street 45, at about 6.40pm on Wednesday.
A fire engine, a pair of Red Rhinos and a support vehicle were sent to the scene. About 50 residents had evacuated on their own prior to SCDF’s arrival.
SCDF used a power saw to enter the burning unit. The fire, which ravaged the contents of the living room, was extinguished using two water jets.
Fortunately, no one was in the unit during the blaze and there were no reported injuries.
