Backhoe burnt in Narathiwat
Updated: 2012-09-30-14:09
A backhoe belonging to a private company was found on Sunday morning to have been set on fire and damaged beyond repair in Narathiwat’s Rueso district.
The machine belonged to Nara Para Company which was clearing land in tambon Suwari.
Ma Mamu, 50, the owner of the backhoe and manager of Nara Para Company, told police he and workers had been clearing the land to remove old rubber trees for 10 days.
After work yesterday, the backhoe was parked under a tree near a house at Ponoh village. He learned from villagers at 4.30am Sunday morning that the backhoe had been set on fire, damaging the machine beyond repair, Mr Ma said.
Police were investigating whether the attack was from a business conflict or an incident by southern insurgents.
