ALLAHABAD: A middle-aged woman and two minor girls were killed in an explosion in a house in Sirsa town area under Meja police station on Friday afternoon.
Police said the blast took place during manufacturing of illegal fire-crackers by the house owner. The blast was so powerful that the double-storey house was reduced to rubble. Hearing the sound of explosion, locals rushed to the spot and informed the police which took the badly injured persons to hospital where they were declared dead by the doctors.As per reports, residents of Sirsa market under Meja police station on Friday afternoon heard a loud explosion in the house of Jaleel Ahmad. Within seconds, the two-storeyed structure collapsed under the impact of the blast. Locals rushed to the spot and found Jaleel’s wife Rukhsana (35) and her daughter Sheeba (15) and a neighbourhood girl, Shaheen (9), lying in pools of blood.
The injured persons were rushed to hospital after pulling them out from the debris. The doctors declared them dead on arrival. tnn
Meja CO said: “Prima facie, the blast appears to have taken place during the course of manufacturing of illegal fire-crackers by house owner Jaleel Ahmad”. and The police have registered a case under different sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against him.
Panic prevailed in the area as the residents scurried for cover in the wake of the deafening noise of the explosion. The area outside the house was littered with rubble and a thick blanket of smoke engulfed the entire area.
The CO added that “we would also probe how the house owner managed to procure explosive to manufacture fire-crackers when he did not have a valid licence”.
