At least one person was killed while one was wounded in a fire that hit a house in Barangay Sto. Domingo in Quezon City before dawn Thursday.
Firefighters recovered the remains of the fatality in the house at Banaue corner Cuenco Streets after putting out the blaze, radio dzBB’s Allan Gatus reported.
The report said investigators are verifying if the remains were those of house owner Robert Chua, who was initially reported trapped inside the house.
Chua’s relatives said they had tried to call his mobile phone but the calls went unanswered.
Injured in the fire was one Domingo Macabangon.
An initial investigation showed the fire started shortly after 1 a.m., and reached the fifth alarm before it was placed under control at 3 a.m.
Members of the household were woken by their pet dog, the report said.
Apartment fire
Meanwhile, a separate fire razed a six-door apartment on Susana Street in Barangay Gulod in Novaliches, Quezon City Wednesday night.
No one was initially reported injured in the fire that started at 8 p.m. and reached the third alarm before it was put out before 9 p.m.
Arson investigators are verifying information the fire started from a candle that was left unattended.
Eight families staying in the apartment owned by one Asuncion Santos were affected in the fire, which caused P300,000 in damage to property. –KG, GMA News
