Lighted candle tips over, starts fire

CEBU, Philippines – A lighted candle left unattended on an altar at a home in sitio Mahayahay, barangay Poblacion in Talisay City started a fire Thursday night.
Melecio Allego, 33, lit a candle and left it on the altar of his two-story house, which is made of light materials, and then had dinner with his family.
Police said the Allego family suddenly smelled smoke.
The candle had tipped over on flammable materials, police said.
“Maayo na lang gani ang mga silingan dali ra kaayo nakabantay ug nakatabang dayon og pagkuha og tubig aron mapalong ang kayo,” Poblacion barangay councilman Gabriel Bonjoc said.
No one was injured during the incident. (FREEMAN)
