BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A total of 30 houses were razed to the ground after a fire struck a residential compound at Brgy. 1 in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, Tuesday midnight.
Records at the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) indicated that a total of 56 families or 165 individuals were affected.
Provincial Fire Marshal Fred Trajeras said the fire left about P350,000(7,748$：1PHP=0.022139USD,03/24 rate) worth of damage to properties, but no one was hurt in the incident. He also said the fire may have been triggered by an unattended overcharged cellphone.
Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. had assured the victims of help. “Damage assessment is still ongoing,” he added. — (FREEMAN)
