120 families lose homes in QC fire

MANILA, Philippines – At least 120 families were rendered homeless when a three-hour fire broke out at a residential area in Barangay Valencia, Quezon City Saturday night.
Allan Bermudez, 32, a volunteer from Camp Aguinaldo, suffered an injury on his left shoulder while trying to help firefighters put out the blaze.
The Quezon City fire department said around P1.5 million（34,068$：1PHP=0.022712USD,
14/08/10 rate） worth of property went up in smoke.
Senior Fire Officer 3 Mauricio Jose said an unattended gas lamp could have triggered the fire.
He said the fire broke out at 10:40 p.m. and was declared out by 2 a.m. yesterday.
Jose said around 40 houses made of light materials were razed by the fire.
