Fire razes longhouse in Sarawak, 200 left homeless

MIRI: The Long Palai longhouse settlement in interior northern Sarawak was razed in a pre-dawn fire on Sunday.
Mire Fire and Rescue Department chief Supt Law Poh Kiong said the Bomba Marudi station received a distress alert at about 7.30am.
Long Palai is one of the more than 5,000 longhouses built using traditional methods throughout rural Sarawak.
