Updated: 2017-12-13 14:59
PETALING JAYA: The Welfare Department confirmed it has no records of registration by Noble Care Home in Kajang where five people died in a fire early Wednesday.
Its public relations officer Raja Othman Raja Ibrahim said that the management of the old folks home had not registered the centre with the Department before starting operations.
The home caught fire at about 6.30am killing a female and three male residents, aged 60 to 70, and a caretaker, a foreigner in his 20s.
District councillor Lai Wa Chong told the media that the centre did not have a business licence.
“Without a licence, they actually cannot operate,” he said adding that the licence would involve getting the approval of the Fire and Rescue Department as well.
