Two cars belonging to MIC man go up in flames

PASIR GUDANG: Two cars belonging to a local MIC leader were damaged in a fire that raged just after midnight.
Pasir Gudang MIC chairman R. Sabapathy said that both of his vehicles were parked outside of his house in Taman Pasir Putih here when the incident occurred at around 12.20am on Jan 24.
The 68-year-old, who was at home with his wife, son and daughter-in-law at that time, said that he was watching television when he heard a loud explosion coming from outside.
“As I rushed out and was shocked to see my silver Mercedes Benz and red Proton Iswara ablaze.
“I immediately called the Fire and Rescue Department for help,” he said here on Tuesday (Jan 24).
He added that his family members tried to put out the fire while waiting for the firemen to arrive at the scene.
When asked if it could be an act of revenge or dissatisfaction against him, Sabapathy declined to comment.
“I don’t know whether it was arson or not and I don’t want to simply point fingers.
“I have lodged a police report over the incident and will leave it to the authorities to determine the cause of the fire,” he said.
Seri Alam OCPD Supt Jokhiri Abd Aziz confirmed the case and asked people not to speculate until investigation is completed.
“The forensic unit of the Fire and Rescue Department is conducting and analysing the investigation and a final report will be submitted soon,” he said.
