Metal works factory partially damaged by fire

KUALA LUMPUR: A metal works factory was partially damaged in a fire near six and a half mile Jalan Puchong here.
Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Jalailudin Abd Mubin said they received a distress call about the fire at 2.38pm yesterday.
“We dispatched two fire engines, a water tanker and 23 firemen to the scene.
“When they arrived at the factory 12 minutes later, the fire had already spread,” he said.
He said the factory was located next to a petrol station which meant the fire had to be brought under control swiftly.
“We managed to get the fire under control by about 3.20pm and fully extinguished it at 4.18pm.
“Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire and damage,” he said, adding that no one was hurt in the fire.
He said the fire destroyed at least 40% of the factory.
