Infant killed in Kapilvastu fire incident

JITPUR, KAPILVASTU: A two-year-old girl was killed after a house caught fire at Manpur Danda, in Bijayanagar Rural Municipality-7 of Kapilvastu district on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Raj Kumari Yadav, grand-daughter of Abahori Yadav.
The thatch-roofed house belonging to Yadav was also gutted by the fire, said Narendra Karki, Deputy superintendent of the District Police Office, Kapilvasti.
According to police, the child was sleeping inside the house while all the family members were out working in the field when the fire broke out from the hearth and quickly spread out. Although the family members became aware of the fire, they could not save the child as the entire house engulfed in flames in no time.
Police with the help of locals extinguished the fire that killed seven goats and gutted property worth Rs 3,00,000 including Rs 30,000 cash, informed police.
