Mumbai: Fire in building at Bhendi Bazaar, two dead

MUMBAI: A fire broke out in a residential building at Bhendi Bazaar around 10.30pm on Thursday. Two people died and five residents –Taheer Nalwala (72), Mustafa Soni (42) and Fareeda Chittalwala-besides three firemen were rushed to JJ Hospital after they suffocated. “All patients are stable,” the doctor said.
The fire started in a house on the third floor of the four-storey Punjab Mahal, at Bohri Mohalla locality. A fire officer said that the ‘level 3’ fire was confined to electric wiring and installations.
The residents were accommodated in nearby buildings and a community hall.
