Woman busy cooking hurt in blaze at Byculla

MUMBAI: A day after 14 people suffered serious injuries in a cylinder explosion at Jogeshwari, another fire broke out on Wednesday at Khatau Patra chawl in Byculla (west). Sitara Karimullah Khan (36), who was cooking, sustained burns when the fire occurred.
Doctors at Kasturba Hospital in Chinchpokli said Khan has suffered 15-20% burns. “She is stable and under observation,” a doctor-on-duty said.
Meanwhile, three of the 14 injured in the Nepali Colony fire in Jogeshwari continued to be serious. One patient was shifted to Kasturba Hospital on Wednesday, while the other two were moved to Sion hospital from Bal Thackeray Trauma Hospital. “Of the 14 injured were two kids aged 2 who suffered 10-15% burns,” said Dr Vidya Mane, medical superintendent of Trauma Hospital.
Shakuntala Yellapa (65), who has 60-65% burns, is critical, said Kasturba doctors.
