Woman, 79, dies in grass fire in Phitsanulok

A 79-year-old woman died after setting fire to a field of dry grass beside her house in Phitsanulok’s Phrom Phiram district Sunday evening, police said.
The Phrom Phiram district police station was alerted of the death of Loei Sithnoi at 7.30pm. She was found badly burned in a field near her house in Ban Sam Sri Charoen village in Tambon Matong. The body was sent to the district hospital for autopsy. Relatives told police that Loei had tried to clear the field by burning on Saturday but was stopped by family members. At home alone on Sunday, she apparently ignored the warnings and tried to burn the field again.
Police suspect the elderly woman collapsed after inhaling smoke from the fire and was burned.
