Fire destroys 3 hectares of forest cover in Tagkawayan, Quezon

A fire of yet undetermined origin destroyed hectares of forest area in Quezon province last Saturday evening, according to local Bureau of Fire Protection officials.
Tagkawayan town’s firefighters said the blaze in Barangay San Vicente broke out at about 9 p.m., destroying three hectares of forestland.
Putting out the fire was a tough job for firefighters as the blaze had grown big, fanned by strong winds, BFP Tagkawayan said.
BFP declared a fire out at past 11 p.m., stopping the blaze from spreading to nearby residential areas.
Local fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire, while close monitoring of the area is being carried out to prevent another fire from flaring up amid the long dry spell.
