Eight vehicles gutted in transformer fire in Manimajra

CHANDIGARH: Eight vehicles, including two auto-rickshaws, were gutted in fire Manimajra on Sunday midnight after a transformer and electricity wires caught fire.
As per information given by the local residents, they said a high-tension wire and a transformer at old Indira colony near Kheda temple, caught fire around the midnight.
A car which was parked near the transformer also caught fire and later the electricity wires fell on the road. A blast also occurred in the transformer.
“Two auto-rickshaws and six cars have been gutted in the fire incident. The residents called up the fire department and three fire tenders were rushed to the spot and took control over the fire. No loss of life has been reported,” said the fire tender officials.
Suman Kaushik, a local resident, said: “When the blast happened, we got afraid and came out of our houses. We found that a transformer and a few vehicles had caught fire.”
Another resident, said: “The administration should keep checking the faulty transformers from time-to-time so that such incidents can be avoided.”
