Coaching centre’s board catches fire

LUDHIANA: Panic gripped the busy GTB market in Khanna after a short circuit in electricity wires burnt a flex board outside a coaching centre on Wednesday.
A passerby called up the fire department around 9.30am. Jagdeep Singh of Khanna said, “I had gone to drop my sister to the market, where she works in one of the centers. I sounded the fire department after I saw the sparks setting the board ablaze.”
Vinod Kumar of Khanna fire department said, “A fire fighting team, along with a fire tender, rushed to the spot. It took about half-an-hour to bring the situation under control.”
Fire department officials said nobody was injured in the incident.
