Bhopal: Fire breaks out at Aashima Mall, no injuries

BHOPAL: A fire broke out on the second floor of Aashima Mall on Hoshangabad Road on Wednesday evening. No casualties were reported.
The fire was controlled by the mall security within half an hour, but due to the central air conditioning system thick black smoke spread throughout the mall.
The security staff evacuated the mall as a precautionary measure. The residents present at the spot said, no fire alarm was sounded and all the people suddenly started running towards the exit. A Bhopal Municipal Corporation team inspected the fire safety arrangements at the mall and found that two of four water supply pipes were not working, but other safety measures were in place.
Misrod SHO Sanjeev Chouksey said, the fire broke out around 5pm on the second floor. It was reported that old furniture and scrap material stored behind a fitness centre had caught fire. . The mall security had already doused the fire before the fire brigade could reach the mall from ISBT fire station. Rahul Verma said, “There are proper fire safety arrangements in the mall. As soon as the fire broke out, security staff doused it with extinguishers and evacuated the people.”
