Two cars go up in flames in Chennai

CHENNAI: Two cars parked on a roadside in T Nagar here went up it flames on Monday. A car belonging to Ramesh of Canara Bank Colony malfunctioned when he was driving it on the G N Chetty Road on Sunday night. Police said the petrol car had malfunctioned after it had been refilled with diesel by mistake.
Ramesh parked the car on the roadside and returned to the spot on Monday morning with a mechanic.
While the mechanic was fixing the problem, the car caught fire. Within minutes, the fire spread to another car parked nearby.
The second car belonged to Madhavan, who works in a private bank located opposite to the spot.
Fire and rescue services personnel rushed to the spot and put out the blaze. They prevented the fire from spreading to other vehicles. But the two cars had been gutted by then.
The Teynampet police registered a case.
